Steps of Hair Transplant

Steps 1. The Consultation

At AWISH Clinic, all of our potential clients have to visit the clinic to consult with Dr. Vijay Kumar (MBBS, MD- Hair Transplant Surgeon). You will meet your Dr. Vijay Kumar during your consultation, who will examine your hair loss and choose the best treatment and medicines to give you the most natural-looking results.

In the consultation, Dr. Vijay Kumar will ask you questions about your health and hair loss and look into probable future hair loss; this helps us map out your hair transplant. We will also take before-transplant photos for your record.

Our consultation process is not only a way for us to get to know you and perform your treatment, but it is also the perfect time for you to ask us any queries you might have.

We nowadays offer in-person and video consultations to fit your needs.

Step 2: The Transplant

Your doctor will get you booked for your hair transplant, and this will be one or two days (relying on how much hair you need transplanting). Upon coming to the clinic, you will be welcomed by your doctor and taken to the OT room to get ready for the transplant. Then the transplant will begin. (We have split the transplant process into a step-by-step guide.)

The Transplant Step 1: Preparation

Upon arrival at the OT room, our team will prepare you and the OT room to ensure your transplant is as comfortable and relaxed as possible. Our transplant rooms are fitted with a TV and music system to ensure you have something to do while your transplant is happening. We will set you up on the iPad and let you choose a film or music while you get relaxed and comfortable.

Once you are comfortable and ready to go, one of our doctors will apply local anesthesia to the scalp for a painless transplant. The anesthesia will be used where the hair will be removed and the area where the hair will be transplanted.

The Transplant Step 2: Extracting the donor’s hair

Once you are settled, the transplant will begin by extracting the donor hair (usually found at the backside of the scalp, where the hair is fuller). The follicles are extracted using a microsurgical extraction tool, between 0.6mm and 1.0mm in diameter. Once your doctor has extracted enough follicles, they are prepared and ready for the transplant.

You will be able to take a break after extracting follicles. During your break, we can bring your lunch, and you’ll be able to relax, watch TV.

The Transplant Step 3: Transplanting follicles

By using a specialist micro surgical needle, your doctor will punch the recipient area (the area where we transplant the grafts). Then the grafts are transplanted at an angle and density that matches the original hair. This is so that it will be the same as a natural and realistic hair pattern. Our doctors are specialists in providing the grafts placed most naturally and realistically to follow your natural hair.

Step 3: The aftercare

Once we have ended the procedure, we will advise you of your personalized aftercare program, including taking a 4-day course of antibiotics to secure against infection and some medicines to avoid post-operative swelling (optional).

All medication required for your recovery is prepared and dispensed with full instructions in your aftercare package, ready for you as soon as you’ve finished your treatment.

There is hardly any post-surgical pain or discomfort with the FUE hair transplant procedure. The moderate recovery time is less than seven days.
